KERRY ALAN FREEMAN, a lifelong resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away on Monday July 14, 2003 at United General Hospital in Sedro-Woolley, WA following a brief battle with cancer at the age of 61 years..
Kerry was born on May 22, 1942 in Tacoma, Washington, the son of Allen A. & Rhoda M. Leander Freeman. He was raised on Warner St and attended school in Sedro-Woolley, graduating from Sedro-Woolley High School with the class of 1960. He attended Skagit Valley College, earning an Associate of Arts Degree. After college, he enlisted in the US Air Force serving a four year tour in Pakistan and later in California. He was married to Carolyn Hill on March 1, 1968 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Sedro-Woolley. Kerry then began a 32 year career with AT&T as an installer and finally with Lucent Technologies as their senior systems technician retiring in 2001. His love for Sedro-Woolley and the history of our area was very important to him. Kerry was the President of the Sedro-Woolley Museum, one of the key organizers of Founder’s Day and played one of the Sheriff Deputies in the Bank Robbery for many years, and was a member of the Design Review Committee for the City of Sedro-Woolley. He also enjoyed kayaking, collecting antique telephones, but his pride and joy was working and riding in his stock 1964 Chevy Malibu which belonged to his mother. Kerry is survived by his wife Carolyn of the family home in Sedro-Woolley. A son Andy and his wife Mandy Freeman of Seattle and a daughter Julie and her husband Brent Tawes of Coeur d’ Alene, ID. A sister Carolyn Vinyard of Mount Vernon and a sister and brother in law and their children Marion and Paddy Cottrell and Jeff and Annie Cottrell of Seattle. An aunt Frances Leander of Mount Vernon and an uncle Ernie Walston of Napa, CA. Cousins Larry, Kenny, David, and Christie Leander.
Memorial Services will be held Friday, July 18, 2003 at 2:00PM at Lemley Chapel with private inurnment at the Sedro-Woolley Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Sedro-Woolley Museum.
