L. Reinell Webb-Roppel age 48, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2003 at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, WA where she had battled cancer since February. She was born to Charles R. and Reinette Murray Webb on September 27, 1954 in Ellensburg, WA. Reinell graduated from Immaculate Conception School in Mount Vernon in 1969 and from Sedro-Woolley High School in 1973. She earned her degree in Special Education and Traffic Safety in 1977 from Central Washington University. Reinell received a Masters Degree in Counseling from Seattle City College in 1986. She taught for 27 years: 3 years in Castle Rock and 24 years at Burlington-Edison High School teaching Special Education and Traffic Safety. She was a past President of the Washington State Traffic Safety Assn.
In August of 2000, she was married to David A. ‘Smokey’ Roppel in Sedro-Woolley whose children she cherished as her own. Reinell’s passions in life were her family, her home, her teaching, her joy of travel, playing darts and pool, and making friends with people from all walks of life. She is survived by her parents Charles and Reinette Webb of Sedro-Woolley, brothers Murray and his wife Vicky Webb and their family Chelsie, Jeremy, and Joshua of Silverdale, WA, Dana and his wife Debbie Webb and their family Lainie and Chad Martin of Sedro-Woolley. Her husband David A.’Smokey’ Roppel of Sedro-Woolley and their children Elena Roppel of Burlington, David Ropell Jr of Sedro-Woolley, Jennifer and her husband Kevin Swenson of Oak Harbor, and Jason Roppel of Sedro-Woolley. Her aunts Charlene Webb of Granite Falls, WA, Sue Murray of St. Paul, MN, and Elaine Murray Brown of Sedro-Woolley and numerous Brown and Murray cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Charles and Floetta Webb and Pat & Katie Murray, and uncles Bill Murray, and Delbert ‘Bus’ Brown and cousins Sean Brown and Pat Murray.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 30, 2003 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at Lemley Chapel with a Funeral Mass to follow on Thursday, July 31, 2003 at 11:00AM at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Sedro-Woolley with Father Pat McDermott as Celebrant. Interment will follow at the Bow Cemetery. A reception will follow the graveside services at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church Parish Hall in Sedro-Woolley. Memorials are suggested to Immaculate Conception School in Mount Vernon or the American Cancer Society. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the caring staff at the University of Washington Medical Center and the many caring friends who constantly encouraged Reinell throughout her illness.
