Leo Ellis Unruh passed away Sunday, October 27, 2002 at the Life Care Center of Mount Vernon. Leo was 94 years of age. He was born September 15, 1908 in Marion, South Dakota, the son of Tobias P. and Lizzie Smith Unruh.
He was raised and attended school in So. Dakota and worked on the family farm until coming the Northwest as a young man. He was married to Cornelia Kimsey on October 13, 1939 in Seattle, WA. In the 1940’s he owned a gas station on Old Hwy. 99 in Seattle and he was able to watch the construction of the Seattle/Tacoma Airport. He worked for 40 years at various refineries in Washington and Alaska as a boilermaker, retiring in the mid 1970’s. In 1934 he joined the Boilermaker Union #104 of Seattle. He was an avid fisherman and he also enjoyed hunting.
A Graveside Service will be on Thursday, October 31, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at Union Cemetery in Sedro-Woolley, WA. Pastor Mark Johnson of the Central United Methodist Church in Sedro-Woolley will officiate. Services and arrangements under the care of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
