Wednesday, December 26th, 2018

Lindsey J. Knuth, Jr., 81, a longtime Sedro-Woolley area resident, passed away on December 26, 2018 in Burlington, WA.

Lindsey was born on March 26, 1937 in Sedro-Woolley, the son of Lindsay & Hanna  (Suiter) Knuth.  He was raised and attended school in Sedro-Woolley.

Lindsey shortly thereafter enlisted into the U.S. Navy where he traveled the globe and courageously served his country for over 20 years; seeing combat action in Vietnam and earning a Navy commendation for his valor; he courageously welded panels to his mine damaged ship while under enemy fire allowing a safe port return for his ship and crew mates.

After his discharge he returned to Sedro-Woolley where he worked in building maintenance for the Sedro-Woolley School District for several years, then as a jailer for the Skagit County Sheriff’s Department until his retirement.

He was a cantankerous but courageous man who battled cancer, agent orange, heart and back surgery, strokes and diabetes but always persevered.

Lindsey enjoyed traveling, he was a gypsy so to speak, traveling wherever destiny took him and worked whenever and wherever needed. He also enjoyed gambling, and his social attitude helped in his bartering for things.

Lindsey is survived by his children and their spouses, Carl and Paula Knuth of Lakewood, CA, Lindsey and Sheila Knuth of Lake Forest, CA, Peggy Knuth of Tucson, AZ, Troy and Marleen Knuth of Las Vegas, NV, William Rodgers of Walla Walla, WA and Barb and Landy Morgan of Sedro-Woolley; 3 brothers, Raymond, Robert and William Knuth and 1 sister, Annie Wilson, all of Sedro-Woolley; 9 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Marvin Knuth and sister, Grace Draper.

A Life Celebration Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.  Following the Service, a Pot Luck fellowship will be held at the Sedro-Woolley Eagles.  Burial at Sea by the U.S. Navy will be held at a later date.  Share memories of Lindsey and sign the online guest register.
