LLOYD A. SELK, 80, a resident of Sedro-Woolley passed away on Thursday August 18, 2005 at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born on August 27, 1924 in D’Aste, Montana, the son of Fred & Isabele Ness Selk.
Lloyd was raised and attended school in Montana, moving to Spokane, WA in 1942 where he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country during WW II. After his discharge in 1945 he returned to Montana where he worked for the Northern Pacific Railroad for several years. In 1951 he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he once again served his country during the Korean and Viet Nam Conflicts. He served in Japan, Africa and Thailand and others until his retirement in 1970.
He made his home in Clear Lake for about 1 year after his retirement from the Air Force, moving to Hoquiam, WA in 1971 where he worked as a civil service employee doing housing maintenance on the military base there.
In 1986 he returned to Skagit County, settling in Sedro-Woolley where he has since made his home.
Lloyd was a member of the non-Commissioned Officers Assoc., the Air Force Sergeant’s Assoc. and a 32 year member of the Bremerton American Legion Post 149.
He is survived by a sister, Thelma Barclay of Sedro-Woolley and a brother, Alvin Selk and his wife, Arcely of Alameda, CA. Also numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Maurice, Obert and Ralph and 1 sister, Donna Scott.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2005 at 2:00 pm at the Lyman Cemetery with Pastor Walt Rice of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church officiating. Military honors will be provided by the George Baldridge Post 43 American Legion. Services under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
