LOIS ENBERG WARD, 89, a longtime resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away on Monday November 22, 2004 at Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon.
She was born on May 7, 1915 in Seattle, Washington, the daughter of Nels and Sarah Hackett Enberg. In 1922 the family moved to Sedro-Woolley where Lois was raised and attended school, graduating from Sedro-Woolley High School with the class of 1932.
On March 27, 1935 she was united in marriage to Jack Ward at St. James Cathedral in Seattle and in 1995 they observed their 60th anniversary just prior to Jack’s death on April 29th.
For many years Lois worked as a medical secretary for the Hunter Clinic in Sedro-Woolley, retiring in 1977.
Lois was a member of the Mount Vernon Emblem Club and the Vasa Lodge. She was an avid bridge player and was a past president of the Skagit Duplicate Bridge Club of America and the Contract Bridge League. She was also a charter member and Past Worthy Advisor of the Sedro-Woolley Rainbow Girls.
Lois is survived by her 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis & Sheryl Ward of Vancouver, WA and Patrick & Jean Ward of Sedro-Wooolley.
2 sisters, Eileen Mahaffie of Sedro-Woolley and Mary Lou Enberg of Pullman, WA. 8 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, 1 nephew and a host of friends. Memorials are suggested to a charity of your choice in Lois’s memory.
A Gathering to Celebrate Lois’s life will be held on Sunday December 5, 2004 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the Carriage Estates Recreation Center at 24531 S.R. 20 in Sedro-Woolley.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
