LORRAINE F. ‘RAY’ NICHOLSON, 88, a longtime resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday December 13, 2003.
She was born on May 13, 1915 in Lafayette, Indiana, the daughter of Harry A. and Florence J. Fisherdick Noyes. She was raised and attained her education in Connecticut and Massachusetts. She attended Massachusetts State University where she received a B.A. Degree in chemistry.
She was united in marriage to Holden Nicholson in Windsor, Conn. on December 6, 1941 and they made their home in Rhode Island and Mass. In 1952 they moved to Denver, CO where they lived until finally settling in Sedro-Woolley in 1971.
For several years in Sedro-Woolley she and Holden operated the Western Auto store. Lorraine’s love and talents were as a dress designer and seamstress. She loved sewing. She was a longtime member of the Catholic Church, for which she has made many exquisite alter frontals, tapestries and lecture falls.
Lorraine is survived by her daughter, Sister Julia Mary of All Saints Convent in Baltimore, Maryland. 1 sister, Carol Graf, and her husband, Joseph, of Georgetown, MA and five nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Holden in 1998 and a brother Arthur Noyes.
Memorials are suggested to the St. Vincent DePaul House or the All Saints Convent, P.O. Box 3127, Baltimore, MD 21228-0127.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday December 18, 2003 at 10:00 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Sedro-Woolley. Father J. Patrick McDermott, Celebrant.
