Mary Ellen Cagle, 65, a longtime Lyman resident, passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2004 at United General Hospital in Sedro-Woolley.
She was born on October 27, 1938 in Sylvia, North Carolina, the daughter of Virgil and Mae Conner Conard. Mary Ellen came to Skagit County in 1947 and attended schools in Sedro-Woolley.
She worked at various jobs including United General Hospital, Northern State Hospital, the Sedro-Woolley school district and the Lyman Restaurant until illness forced her retirement.
Mary Ellen is survived by her husband, James, at the family home in Lyman; a daughter, Cindy Vlahovich and her husband Jim of Mount Vernon; a son, Ken Cagle of Lyman; 4 grandchildren; Arin Claybo, Melissa Forstein and her husband, Matt, Dana Cagle and Derek Cagle; 2 great-grandchildren; Emma Claybo and Kendra Green; a sister-in-law, Margie Conard of Lyman and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother T. C. Conard and a grandson Brian Cagle.
A private gathering for family and close friends will be held at the family home on Friday, January 9, 2004 from 12:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. There will also be a public Celebration of Mary Ellen’s Life at the Lyman Restaurant from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday January 9th.
