Mary Albertine Trueman McDougle, 101, a lifetime resident of the Lyman community, passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2004 at her home surrounded by her loving family and caregivers.
She was born on October 11, 1902 in Lyman, WA, the fourth of eight children of Alf & Mary Albertine, who were early settlers of the Lyman area.
Mary graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School in 1922, after which she worked as a switchboard operator for the Lyman Telephone Co. She also wrote weekly articles for the Courier Times on happenings in the Lyman area.
She also worked on the election board for several years.
On October 8, 1924 she married William Trueman, and from that marriage her 3 children were born. William passed away in 1936. On February 5, 1949 she married Cecil McDougle. Cecil passed away in 1986.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, Della & Frances, 5 brothers, Frank, Hank, Fritz, Ernie & Alfred and a grandson, Larry Trueman.
Mary is survived by her 3 sons and their spouses, Harold & Honey Trueman of Lyman, Jim & Pat Trueman of Sedro-Woolley and Dick & Marie Trueman of Mount Vernon. One step-son, Ward McDougle and his wife Louise of California. One step-daughter, Dolores House of Oregon. One sister-in-law, Blanche Albertine of Mount Vernon. Numerous grand, great-grand and great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at the St. James Episcopal Church in Sedro-Woolley on Monday, January 12, 2004 at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be available at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley on Friday & Saturday from 9 AM to 5 PM, Sunday from 9 AM to 2 PM and on Monday from 9 to 11 AM.
