MELVIN C. KELLY, 93, a longtime resident of the Sedro-Woolley community, passed away on Friday December 12, 2003 at the Life Care Center of Skagit Valley in Sedro-Woolley.
Melvin was born on January 28, 1910 in Seattle, WA the son of Alfred & Lillian Clausen Kelly. He was raised and attended school in the Seattle area. Melvin worked at a butter manufacturing plant in Seattle until 1940, when he came to Sedro-Woolley where he purchased a dairy farm. For 26 years, twice a day, every day, he never missed a milking. That’s being a dedicated farmer.
After his retirement he finally found time to do some traveling and enjoyed taking charter bus trips with senior groups. He was a member and volunteer at the Sedro-Woolley Senior Center. He also attended several churches in the community. This ‘very sweet man’ was united in marriage to Dorcas Walden in Spokane, WA 1996 and they made their home in Sedro-Woolley.
He is survived by his wife, Dorcas, of Sedro-Woolley. 2 step-daughters, Joanne Calkins and her husband Ronald of Sedro-Woolley and Wyvetta Jean Walden of Lynnwood, WA. 2 step-sons, Orville Neilen Walden and his wife Ellen of Spokane and Denny Davis and his wife Lou Ann of Mount Vernon. A step-daughter-in-law, Claudean Davis of Mount Vernon. 2 nephews, Bob Kelly and his wife Nancy of Leavenworth, WA and Cleon Denny and his wife Rita of Oak Harbor, WA. Also numerous step-grand and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Kelly, a sister Freda Denny and a step-son Edwin Davis.
Memorials are suggested to the Sedro-Woolley Senior Center or a charity of your choice.
