MYRTLE ALICE MULROONEY, 85, a lifelong resident of Sedro-Woolley passed away on Thursday December 1, 2005 at Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon.
She was born on April 18, 1920 in Sedro-Woolley, the youngest of ten children of Lyman S. & Edith E. Kalloch Hall. Myrtle was raised and attended school in Sedro-Woolley, graduating from SWHS with the class of 1938. She was very athletic in her youth and was very proud of the fact that she was chosen to be a high school girl’s basketball referee.
She was first married to Melvin Hoffman for several years and after their separation she married Jerry Mulrooney in Sedro-Woolley and together they made their home there. They separated after many years of marriage but remained the best of friends.
She was known to her friends as Myrt and she always had a great sense of humor and loved a good joke.
Myrt worked as a cook and bartender at the Red Dog Saloon and other establishments in Sedro-Woolley for many years.
She enjoyed gardening, especially growing flowers, was a fan of the Seattle Mariners and Seahawks, rarely missing a game and was a member of the Sedro-Woolley Eagles Auxiliary.
She is survived by her 4 children, Lynette Hoffman Pollard and her husband Pete, Karen Hoffman White and her husband Jim and Mary Mulrooney all of Sedro-Woolley and Tom Mulrooney of Priest River, Idaho. 1 brother, Glenn Hall, 7 grandchildren, Vicki Naylor, Jeff Sather, Cathy Wheeler, Jim ‘Woody’ White and Crystal Kennison all of Sedro-Woolley, Kim Flones of Wenatchee and Christopher Mulrooney of Iowa. 5 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters, Nada, Mary and Elsie, 5 brothers, Harvey, Lew, Bill, Cal and Walt and her former husbands, Melvin and Jerry.
A Life Celebration will be held on Saturday December 10, 2005 at the Sedro-Woolley Eagles Hall from 1 to 3 pm. Private interment was at Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery. Arrangements under direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
