Myrtle B. Olson, age 83, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at the Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon, Washington.
She was born February 26, 1925 in Epping, North Dakota the daughter of Ellef and Borghild Skaugerud Engen.
Myrtle was a lifetime resident of Sedro-Woolley until moving to Montana, then to Burlington and finally settling in La Conner one month ago. She was married to Orville Olson on August 18, 1956 in Sedro-Woolley.
She worked in the canneries and also did house cleaning as well as being a homemaker for her family. Myrtle was a member of the Sons of Norway.
She loved children and being with her grandchildren. Myrtle was generous and very supportive of her family and was always there for everyone.
Myrtle is survived by her husband Orville Olson of La Conner. Eight children; Betty Bailey of Vancouver, WA, Gene Kindred and his companion Penny Good of Burlington, Gary Kindred and his wife Genny of Logan, NM, Roger Kindred and his wife Lois of Concrete, Galen Kindred of Sedro-Woolley, Candee Blouin and her husband Martin of Sedro-Woolley, Tammy Olson of Sedro-Woolley and Shelly Troxel and her husband John of Kalispell, MT. 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Her brother, Elmer Engen of Sedro-Woolley and her sister, Eleanor Dobson of Bend, OR. Also numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Alvin Engen and a son-in-law, Don Bailey.
A Memorial Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, December 22, 2008 at 2:00PM at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Sedro-Woolley with Pastor Walt Rice officiating. Memorials are suggested to the Sedro-Woolley Boys & Girls Club or a Children’s Charity of your choice.
