Nadine Marie Bertrand passed away Friday, January 9, 2004 at the Life Care Center of Skagit Valley in Sedro-Woolley, WA at the age of 68 years. She was born July 26, 1935 in Lowell, Massachusetts the daughter of Loran and Lucy Therault Gavel. Nadine was married to Wilfred R. Bertrand in Sanford, Maine in 1954 and they resided there until moving to Los Angeles, CA living there for many years until moving to Sedro-Woolley in 1968. She worked as a seamstress for various clothing companies including the Shick Co in Los Angeles. While living in Sedro-Woolley she owned and operated her own seamstress business as well as later working for the Sparkle Shop. Nadine enjoyed crafts, gardening, flowers, and loved to have fun in everything she did. She loved life to the fullest, especially her family. Never will a person be missed more than she, a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. There is no more pain for her, and she is at peace now, wrapped safely in the loving arms of God. We all will miss her sparkling brown eyes, her laughter, and her feisty spirit. She is survived by her husband Wilfred Bertrand of the family home in Sedro-Woolley. Her children Mark and his wife Cheryl Bertrand of LaConner, Nancy and her husband Larry Lanning of Burlington, and Sherri and her husband Stephen Johns of Sedro-Woolley. 5 grandchildren Michael Bertrand, Joey Bertrand, Eddie Johns, Michelle Bertrand, and Sara Johns and 2 great grandchildren. A brother Osborne Gavel of Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her grandson Michael Johns, her parents, and 4 brothers and 1 sister.
