Niilo Alfred ‘Andy’ Anderson, 93, a resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2006 at Home Place Special Care Center in Burlington.
He was born on September 11, 1912, the son of Julius and Josephine Heikkila Anderson in Brush Prairie, WA. He was raised and attended schools in Winlock, WA. After graduation from high school, Andy atttended Washington State College in Pullman, graduating with a B.A. degree in Biology. He went to work for the Washington State Fish and Game Department in many different locations in both Eastern and Western Washington. One of his first jobs was to make a 2 year study on mountain goats in the North Cascades and his study was later published by the department. He retired after over 30 years of service as a Wildlife Agent in Mount Vernon, WA.
Andy was united in marriage to Cleo Kleinkopf on August 9, 1988 in Mount Vernon.
Andy enjoyed fishing, hunting, mushroom picking, photography, bird watching and dancing.
Later in his life Andy became a child of God. He was a kind and gentle soul and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Cleo of Sedro-Woolley; 2 sons, Dick Anderson of Mount Vernon and Terry Anderson of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. A step-daughter, Joyce Aungst and her husband Larry of Sedro-Woolley and a step-son, Dick Kleinkopf and his wife Cinda of East Wenatchee, WA. 6 step-grandchildren; Janell Dellinger and her husband Brad, Brian Aungst and his wife Beth, Carter Aungst and his wife Jeanne, John Kleinkopf, Mark Kleinkopf and Kara MacDonald and her husband Jason. 5 step-great grandchildren, Alicia Blundred and her husband Dan, Jade, Drew, Leighton and Lane and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Martha Lund Anderson, 3 brothers, Fred, George and Ruben and 4 sisters, Lyla, Laura, Eleanor and Ina.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Nature Conservancy Washington Field Office, 2l7 Pine Street, Suite 1100, Seattle, WA. 98101.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2006 at 2:00 PM at Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley, with Mr. Jerel Kratt of the Mount Vernon Church of Christ Church officiating. A fellowship will follow at County Meadows from 3:00-4:00 pm.
