Nina V. Hall, age 89, a longtime resident of the Prairie community north of Sedro-Woolley passed away Saturday morning, August 6, 2005 at the Life Care Center in Sedro-Woolley, while recovering from a hip fracture.
She was born February 6, 1916 in Terrebonne, Oregon, the youngest of three children of John and Vertice Hottell Norris.
The family moved to the Conway area when she was a young child, and she began her education at the Lower Cederdale School, she also attended the Rexville, Samish and McRae schools, graduating from Sedro-Woolley High School in 1934.
She married Roy C. Hall on his 26th birthday, August 29, 1936 in Sedro-Woolley, upon returning from their honeymoon, they moved onto the family homestead where they farmed and raised their family. She had lived in the same house for 69 years.
Nina was a charter member of the Samish Pioneer Women’s Club, only missing a meeting if she was really sick. She was also a longtime member of the Samish Valley Grange #926 and had attended the Township Street Church of Christ.
One of her favorite things was the vegetable garden, which always included a border of flowers, she also helped with the farm animals that included sheep, cows, horses, chickens, pigs, turkeys, and also a bull for rent business. She really enjoyed traveling and family gatherings.
She is survived by two sons, Fred Mary Hall of Bay View and Roger Irene Hall of Friday Harbor and one daughter, Janet Jim McRae of Sedro-Woolley, 8 grandchildren, Dennis Hall, Marilyn Chandler, Scott Hall, Heather Hoyt, Bob McRae, Kathy McCloud, Barbara McRae, Ken McRae. 13 great-grandchildren and 3 nephews, Don, Harold and Paul Summers.
Here husband, Roy preceded her in death on Nov. 22, 1987 after 51 years of marriage. Also preceding her in death was her sister, Lila Summers and her brother, Myrl Norris.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, August 11, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery with Pastor Wendy Tingley of the Trinity United Presbyterian Church officiating. A Celebration of her life with a potluck will follow the service at the Samish Valley Grange on Hwy. 9.
