Noel R. ‘Buck’ Holstine passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2003 at the Life Care Center of Skagit Valley in Sedro-Woolley, WA with his family at his side from the complications of Lupus at the age of 68 years. He was born February 25, 1935 in Everett, WA the son of Joseph and Dora Cotter Holstine. Buck grew up in the Everett area attending schools, graduating from Everett High School in 1953 where he played football earning a gold football where he was always proud of their winning season. After graduation, he went to Alaska with his Dad to work in the woods. He met and married Beverly Morgison in 1953 in Coeur D’ Alene, ID. They raised four children and came to Skagit County in 1960 residing in Clear Lake. He worked as a inspector for Puget Power for 38 years retiring in 1994. Buck enjoyed fishing and hunting trips to Reno and working in his garden.
He is survived by his Dad Bert Birdsong of Snohomish, WA. His children Gregory Alan Holstine of Edmonds, WA, Loretta Lynn Kahlor and her husband Bob of Everett, WA, Lisa Marie Powers and her husband Brett of Mount Vernon, WA and Glenn Joseph Holstine of Sedro-Woolley, WA. His constant loving companion to the very end Barbara Rhodes of Clear Lake, WA. ‘Thank you Barbara so much for all the love and support you gave Dad and all of us kids, you made this time bearable for all of us especially Dad. ‘ 7 grandchildren Erin and Kyle Powers, Sara and Robert Holstine, Kristen and Riley Jo Holstine, and Lance Kahlor. A sister and brother Pam and her husband Tim Ayers of Marysville, WA and Clay and his wife Stephanie Holstine of Milwaukee, OR. He was preceded in death by his mother Dora Birdsong, his father Joe Holstine, and his wife Beverly Holstine. A special thanks to Mr Bates for watching over Dad in the home.
A Celebration of Buck’s Life will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2003 at 11:00AM at Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley. A reception will follow the services at the Eagles at the corner of Metcalf and Warner. Memorials are suggested to the Lupus Foundation or a charity of your choice.
