She was born on December 20, 1916 in Stahl, Missouri, the daughter of John & Martha Ruggles Lloyd. She eventually made her home in Mason City, Iowa where she was united in marriage to Leland M. In 1943 they moved to Vancouver, WA where they made their home until 1947 when they came to Skagit County, residing in Day Creek until settling in Clear Lake in 1952. Leland passed away in 1964, and in 1967 she married Robert Ashe and they made their home in Sedro-Woolley and in Clear Lake until his death in 1997.
For many years Nola worked at the Stokley Van Camp cannery in Mount Vernon and in the bulb fields throughout Skagit County.
She enjoyed camping and fishing and traveling across the United States in her motor home. She had also been a longtime member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Sedro-Woolley.
