PATRICIA ANN BROOKS, a longtime resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away on Saturday July 12, 2003 at United General Hospital in Sedro-Woolley after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 50 years of age.
Patty was born on December 23, 1952 in Sylva, North Carolina, the daughter of Troy & Jean Young Queen. She made her home in North Carolina until 1959 when the family moved to Lyman. She attended school in Lyman and Sedro-Woolley, graduating from Sedro-Woolley High School with the class of 1972. She was united in marriage to Richard Brooks in Lyman on January 2, 1973. Richard served in the U.S. Marine Corps and they traveled and made their home all over the world, returning home to Skagit County whenever possible and finally settling here in 1992.
Patty was one who always gave of herself, helping family and friends whenever they asked and even helping those who didn’t ask.
Patty enjoyed horseback riding and riding her horse in parades. She also enjoyed playing bingo, pinochle and yatzee and working in her flower garden. She also enjoyed her collection of Beanie Babies. She was an avid Mariners fan, with Joey Cora being her favorite player.
She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Richard, at the family home in Sedro-Woolley. Her children, Jessica Lynn Brooks and Richard Jason Brooks, both of Sedro-Woolley. Her beloved grandchildren, Robert Dylan Brooks, Cylas John Brooks-Ingalls and Cody Alan Brooks. Her mother Jean Queen and brother Bruce Queen, both of Hamilton. Numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Troy Queen and a brother Alfred Queen. The family wishes to thank all the staff at United General Hospital and at North Puget Oncology for their care and prayers for Patty.
They also suggest memorials be made to the Lyman Cemetery Fund.
Graveside services will be held at the Lyman Cemetery on Wednesday July 16, 2003 at 2:00 P.M. Pastor Leon Meyer of the Calvary Baptist Church in Burlington officiating.
