Patricia Alice (Logan) Major, 93 of Burlington, Washington passed away Friday July 1, 2022. Pat was born February 9, 1929, to Russell and Ida (Grosz) Logan in Dryden, WA and eventually moved to Sedro-Woolley in Pat’s senior year of high school. Pat graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School in 1947.
According to family stories, she and her sister, Allene made quite a lasting impression on the charming, happy go lucky neighbor, Dick Major, who eventually become her husband. They made their home at Lake Shannon and Rockport, WA while Dick was working in the logging industry. In Rockport, they welcomed their first two children, Rick and Laurice Major. Pat was an LPN and during her career she worked at United General Hospital and Northern State Hospital. Eventually, the family moved to Burlington, WA and they welcomed another son, Russell Major.
Her grandchildren gave her joy. She was a generous person, whether it was spoiling her grandchildren on Christmas, other holidays and birthdays. The grandchildren have a specific fun memory of her handing out $20 bills each time they visited. Her favorite charities to donate to were animal and nature charities. She often took in stray animals and it was like the animals knew that her house was to be their final destination. She was an avid supporter of the arts and loved bird watching.
Pat is survived by her sons, Rick (Judi) Major of Burlington, and Russ Major of Guemes Island; grandchildren, Melissa Gaines, Aaron (Christine) Major, Andrea (Ryan) Lemos, Amy (Rich) VanZanten, Russ (Jaylene) Major and Alecia Major; nephew, Adrian Major of Verona, Italy; two nieces, Pam (Dean) Harriman and Heidi Heathers; eight great grandchildren, Christopher, Serafina, Isabella, Anthony, Griffin, Nicholas, William and Piper; three special furry grandchildren, Daisy, Liebe, and Boone.
She was in preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Dick Major in 1992; mother and father, Ida and Russell Logan; daughter, Laurice Gaines; son in law, Steven Gaines; sister, Allene Heathers, father in law and mother in law, Pearl and Gladys Major; brothers in law, Lyle and Charles Major; sisters in law, Gabriella Major and Jewell Major.
We would like to thank the Hospice of the Northwest for the loving care they gave Pat in her final days. Pat requested no services. She was laid to rest at the Greenhills Cemetery in Burlington next to her husband, Dick. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate in her memory to Hospice of the Northwest, the Humane Society of Skagit Valley or Because We Care Rescue.
