Pauline H. Shuler, our loving mother and grandmother, while surrounded by her family, left to join the angels of the Lord on Saturday, June 19, 2004 at Home Place Special Care in Burlington at the age of 84 years. She was born September 12, 1919 in Andrews, North Carolina the daughter of Thomas and Eldie Creasmon Hardin. Pauline was married to Glen Shuler on December 21, 1936 in Georgia. They resided in Bryson City, North Carolina until moving to the Day Creek area in 1949 and later settling in Sedro-Woolley in 1950. She worked at Northern State Hospital for 18 years and later at Western State Hospital in Steilacoom until retiring in 1981 after 22 years of service. Her greatest joy was her family including her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Next to spending time with her family, Pauline took great pleasure in gardening and cooking and until a few years ago, she enjoyed baking pies and cooking meals for her family. She also enjoyed playing bingo and an occasional trip to Las Vegas or Reno. She also embroidered and quilted blankets for all her grandchildren. Pauline was loved dearly and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her children Bill and his wife Nora Shuler and Robert and his wife Billie Jean Shuler all of Sedro-Woolley and a daughter June and her husband Robert Bolam of Tacoma. 8 grandchildren Kellie Beto, Kerry Shuler, Bill Shuler, Jason and his wife Cheri Renfro, LeeEllen and her husband Ken Szymborski, Kevin Bolam, Cindy Bolam and Julie, and Chris and her husband Lonnie Brown. 12 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. 3 sisters Dr. Wanda Ellis of Rodchester, MI, Mildred and her husband Lee Sims of Gastonia, NC, and Ada Hembree of Jacksonville, FL. 2 brothers James Hardin of Pontiac, MI, and Jack Hardin of Andrews, NC. Numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Glen in 1966, and brothers Wiley and Newell.
Graveside Inurnment Services will be Saturday, July 26, 2004 at 11:00AM at the Greenhills Cemetery in Burlington with Pastor Walt Rice of Bethlehem Lutheran Church officiating. The family would like to thank Nancy Gentry and her wonderful caring staff at the Bungalow at Home Place Special Care in Burlington. Special thanks also to the staff of Skagit Hospice for being with the family during the last few days of Pauline’s life. Memorials are suggested to Skagit Hospice or a charity of your choice.
