PEARL LEE CHAMBERS, 88, a resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away at her home on Monday, March 8, 2004 with her family at her side. She was born on March 30, 1915 in Gridley, Kansas, the daughter of George & Hattie Barton Scales. She was raised and attended school in Kansas and on August 25, 1934 she was united in marriage to Glen Chambers in Emporia, Kansas. They made their home in Hartford, KS and Pearl worked as a telephone operator and later she also owned and operated a restaurant in Hartford. In 1939, she and Glen moved to the Long Beach, CA area residing there until 1947 when they moved to Sauk where they were part owners of the Cascade Supply Hardware Store until their retirement in 1976. In 1988, she and Glen moved to Sedro-Woolley. Pearl was a member of the Christian Church in Gridley, KS for 78 years, a member of the Daughters of the Revolutionary War, Birdsview Grange, and the Skagit Rovers Club. She is survived by her daughter Mary Lee Watts of Sedro-Woolley and grandchildren Debbie and Junior Robbins of Concrete, Ronnie and Cella Watts of Birdsview, Sherri and Ron Cole of Post Falls, ID, and Danny and Allison Watts of Mount Vernon. 11 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren and a sister Georgia Woltring of Long Beach, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Glen in 1997 after 62 years of marriage, a son Larry, and brothers James, Orville, William, Dean, and a sister Lee Albert who passed this year.
Private Graveside Inurnment Services will be held at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Skagit Hospice or your favorite charity.
