Philip King Poirier

Saturday, May 21st, 2005

Philip King Poirier, a longtime resident of Sedro-Woolley, joined his wife and sons in heaven to be together with our Lord on Saturday, May 21, 2005 at his home at the age of 79 years. He was born July 5, 1925 in Bellingham, WA, the son of Philip J. and Alma T. King Poirier.
Philip was raised and attended school in the Bellingham area graduating from Ferndale High School. He enlisted in the US Navy during WWII, serving from 1942 to 1945. After the war, he married his high school sweetheart Audrey E. Miller in Whatcom County. Phil worked for many years in the Bellingham Coal Mines, Bellingham Shipyards, and for 27 years at Skagit Steel/Bendix Corporation in Sedro-Woolley. After retiring in 1986, he enjoyed many years sport fishing in the Puget Sound with his family. Phil was especially gifted as a loving father, grandfather and a very special ‘Uncle P’. He was a gourmet cook and master gardener. Phil was loved by all who knew him. He looked forward to his many visits from Pastor Rice during his extended illness. His wife Audrey, his infant son, and his son Terry Poirier preceded him in death.
Philip is survived by his daughter Tana J. and her husband Larry Honeycutt of Sedro-Woolley. 4 grandchildren, Travis, Amanda, Kris, and Cliff and 3 great grandchildren, Adam, Alex, and Kamryn. A brother Thomas Poirier of Sedro-Woolley and 2 sisters Evelyn Davis of Sedro-Woolley and Norma Moses of Stanwood and many loving nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be Saturday, June 4, 2005 at 2:00 PM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church on Wicker Road with Pastor Walt Rice officiating. Memorials may be sent to Skagit Hospice, 2031 A Hospital Dr. Sedro-Woolley, WA 98284. Arrangements under the care of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
