Phillip E. Taylor, 89, a lifelong resident of the Skagit Valley passed away on Saturday, March 13, 2004 at the Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon.
He was born on August 29, 1914 in Marblemount, WA, the son of Edward H. & Mamie S. Clark Taylor.
Phill & Matilda Mendie Tschritter were united in marriage on December 23, 1934 in Bellingham. They resided in Marblemount until 1974 when they moved to Sedro-Woolley. Phill was a self employed logger for 20 years. From 1952 until his retirement in 1974 he was employed by the Forest Service/Park Service. During those 22 years he traveled the upper Skagit wilderness by pack horse distributing food to look-out guards, was the Ross Lake patrol guard, and maintained mountain trails. He was known for his knowledge of the Upper Skagit area.
He is survived his wife of 69 years, Matilda at the family home in Sedro-Woolley. Four children, Phyllis & Les Eldridge of Sedro-Woolley, Pauline & Walter Wenrick of Darrington, Grace Lemon and Bob Reece of Mount Vernon, and Paul & Jan Taylor of Sedro-Woolley. 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He loved and always brightened up when grandchildren were around. A brother, John "Jack" Taylor of Sedro-Woolley.
He was preceded in death by a brother, George Taylor and 2 sisters, Hope Meece and Norma Johnson. Special thanks to Barbara Gillmer for her care and support.
Memorials are suggested to the Diabetes Association in his name.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 16, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley. Pastor Dennis Noble, of Viewcrest Assembly of God Church in Mount Vernon officiating.
Interment will follow at Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery.
