OBITUARY NOTICE

Raymond E. Wold, age 81, passed away Saturday, January 22, 2005 at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, WA as a result of a home fire, that also claimed the life of his beloved wife June on January 6th. He was born April 19, 1923 in Deering, North Dakota to Joseph and Marie Friedland Wold.
Ray grew up in North Dakota and later served with the CCC’s in the Deming Mount Baker area of Western Washington. He served with the US Army from 1943 to 1946 during WWII and was a decorated veteran. On May 8, 1948, he was married to June Taylor in Mount Vernon. He logged in the Skagit Valley for many years and later resided in southeast Alaska for many years, where Ray worked as a powderman, driller, and logger. After leaving Alaska, Ray and his wife June resided in Concrete for ten years and for the past six months have resided in Burlington. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, and a member of the Sons of Norway, Teamsters, and the Alaska Loggers Association. Ray enjoyed nature, studying rocks, watching National Geographic television shows, reading Louis LaMore westerns, but most of all working. Ray is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Marvin and Gunilla Wold of Anacortes and 4 daughters and sons-in-law Glenda and Bob Guck of Circle Pines, MN, Deborah and Gene Keener of Sedro-Woolley, Martha and Wade Mahala of Burlington, and Sarah and Bruce Smith of Concrete. 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. 3 sisters Gladys Rocke of Sedro-Woolley and Myrtle Hendrix and Margaret Williams both of Seattle.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife June, three sons John, Liane, and Milton and two brothers Alvin Wold and Alfred Laine.
Memorial Services will be Friday, January 28, 2005 at 1:00PM at Lemley Chapel with Pastor Walt Rice of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church officiating. Inurnment will be at the Mount Vernon Cemetery with a reception to follow at VASA Lodge 1805 Cleveland Mount Vernon.
