RAYMOND ‘JUNIOR’ FOX, 77, a longtime resident of Concrete passed away at the Clayton House in Sedro-Woolley, WA on Wednesday, May 12, 2004.
He was born on August 28, 1926 in Sylva, NC, the son of Raymond and Bessie Jamison Fox. He was raised and attended school in Sylva, North Carolina. In 1944 he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving during WW II. In 1951 he came to Skagit County. He was united in marriage to Bobbie Ensley in Clear Lake on May 26, 1956. He was employed by local logging companies and shake mills until going to work as a machinist for Skagit Corp. until his retirement.
He was a member of the Machinists Union, the Sno-King County Hound Club and the Wildcat Steelhead Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, gardening and his flowers. Junior was a true outdoorsman. He was known as ‘Yogi Bear’ by many of his friends.
He is survived by his wife, Bobbie at the family home in Sedro-Woolley. 2 daughters, Peggy Small and her husband Ron, and Sandy Stringfield and her husband Mike, all of Sedro-Woolley. 3 sons, Raymond ‘Doollie’ Fox of Concrete, John Edward Fox of Sedro-Woolley and William Lee Fox of Concrete. Nine grandchildren, Jason & Eric Stringfield, Tara, Ashley and Cody Small, Kyle, Kelli and Dillon Fox and Derrick Gillooly. One great-granddaughter, Baylee Jones. One brother, Richard Fox and a sister, Melita Bryson.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Ernie & Ebb and 3 sisters, Annie, Mary and Ethel.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2004 at 11:00 AM at the Hamilton Cemetery. Pastor Joseph Miller of the Sedro-Woolley Community Church will officiate. Military Honors by the George Baldridge Post 43, American Legion. Memorials are suggested to the Clayton House, 1231 Warner Street, Sedro-Woolley, WA. Services and arrangements under the care of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
