ROBERT ALLEN ‘Duck’ McKINNEY, 61, a resident of the Cape Horn Community near Concrete passed away at his home on Wednesday June 9, 2004, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on September 3, 1942 in Mount Vernon, WA, the son of John H. & Jeanette Eleanor McKinney. He was raised and attended school in Burlington, graduating from Burlington-Edison High School in 1961. In September of 1961 he joined the U.S. Marine Corps, serving his country until 1966.
He returned to Skagit County where he worked as a mill write for WRP Lumber in Sedro-Woolley and also for Summit Timber and Hampton Lumber.
Robert loved being with his family and enjoyed hunting and fishing until he was no longer able to. He also enjoyed shooting muzzle firearms, and started Skagit Valley Muzzle Loaders.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Jerry, at the family home. 3 sons, Ottis McKinney of Seattle and Tommy and Duwane McKinney, both in Utah. Daughters, Tammy McKinney and Sue Farris both of Seattle, Marci McKinney of Mt. Vernon and Chris Martin of Utah. 7 granddaughters and 1 grandson. Cassandra McKinney, Taylor McKinney, Kaylyn McKinney, Melanie McKinney, Loarrisa McKinney, Kayla McKinney, Kelsey McKinney, and Ryan David McKinney. Robert McKinney was the best loving grandfather to them.
