Robert P. “Bob” Miller, 77, a resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 26, 2008 at United General Hospital in Sedro-Woolley.
Bob was born on October 30, 1930 in Council Bluff, Iowa, the son of Frank & Gertrude Fleming Miller. He was raised and attended school in the mid west. In May of 1948 at the age of 17 he enlisted into the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Okinawa and there worked as a mechanic. After his discharge in 1951 he went to diesel mechanic school and worked for a GMC dealership in Kentucky. In 1955 after joining the Teamster’s Union he worked for the Mason & Dixon Truck Line for a while after which he went to work for the Klarer Packing House, which was then purchased by the Amour Co. He worked for them until 1977 when he moved to Mount Vernon and he worked as a diesel mechanic for Darigold until 1987 and then for LTI Trucking out of Lynden. He “retired” in 1990 only to stay on and work part time until 2005.
Bob was united in marriage to Dorothy McDonald Arvison in Las Vegas on September 12, 1987 and they made their home in Mount Vernon and Sedro-Woolley.
Bob was a member of the Teamster’s Union, the George Baldridge Post 43, American Legion and the Sedro-Woolley Eagles.
He enjoyed his leisure time fishing, cutting wood and enjoying his grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his wife, Dorothy at the family home in Sedro-Woolley. His children and their spouses, Roberta Ann & Eric Hynson of Indianapolis, IN and Michael & Bunnie Miller and Charles & Jean Miller all of Louisville, KY. 3 sisters, Ellen Sullivan, Sadie Miller and Betty Jenkins. 2 step-children, Norma Cook and her husband Larry of Sedro-Woolley and Kirby Taylor of Henderson, NV. Also 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister.
Memorials are suggested to North Puget Oncology at United General Hospital in Sedro-Woolley.
Memorial Services with full Military Honors will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley with Pastor Jim Cannon of Bethel Assembly of God Church in Sedro-Woolley officiating. A pot luck fellowship will follow services at the American Legion in Sedro-Woolley. Services and cremation arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
