Roy Donald Stout, Sr. passed away Saturday, November 22, 2003 at the Life Care Center in Sedro-Woolley at the age of 74 years.

He was born on June 28, 1929 in Richmond, Indiana the son of Roy and Thelma (Huffer) Stout.

Roy was a resident of Sedro-Woolley for the past 42 years.  He was married to Delores Lawrence on September 3, 1953 in Mountain Home, Idaho; she preceded him in death in December of 1996.

Roy was a 13 year active duty Veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during WWII and Korea and for 23 years in the Reserves.   He worked as a telephone installer for GTE and retired in 1988.

Roy was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,  VFW Post #993 Burlington, George Baldridge Post #43 American Legion, and the KOA Camping Club.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing and being an outdoorsman, lapidary and leather work, horses, reading, but most of all he enjoyed his family.

Roy is survived by his 4 sons, Roy Stout, Jr. of Steilacoom, WA, Kenneth Stout of Mount Vernon, Michael Stout of Alger, and James Stout of Bellingham.  3 daughters, Barbara Bessier (Paul) of Rosewell, Georgia, Linda Shanes (Michael) of Sedro-Woolley, and Donna Picchena (Bradley) of Bothell.  His mother, Thelma Stout of Richmond, IN:  sister, Gracie Ballinger of Richmond, IN, and 2 brothers, Louis Stout of Texas and Robert Stout of Margate, FL, and a brother-in-law, Joe Wolford of Cincinnati, OH; 21 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.   He was preceded in death by his father, a sister Carolyn Wolford.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 1, 2003 at 11:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sedro-Woolley, officiated by Bishop Melvin Call.  Burial will be at the Greenhills Cemetery in Burlington with full military honors provided by George Baldridge Post #43 American Legion.  Arrangements and Services are under the care of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
