Roy Robert Buchanan, age 84, passed away at his home in Lyman, WA on Friday, March 18, 2005. He was born February 28, 1921 in Cokedale, WA, the son of Leonard and Mollie Burleson Buchanan. He grew up in Marblemount, attending school and graduated from Concrete High School. He later resided in Rockport for many years until moving to Lyman in 1957. Roy was married to Laura Bell Cook on November 2, 1954 at the First Baptist Church in Sedro-Woolley, she preceded him in death in October of 1991. Roy worked as a maintenance foreman for PM Northwest for 27 years.
Roy was a lifetime member of the NRA, he loved to hunt and fish, and years ago he helped pack fish to most of the high lakes in the upper Skagit Valley. He had just celebrated his 84th birthday with his twin brother Ray.
Survivors include his son, Mickie Buchanan and his wife, Tracee of Lyman. His brother, Ray Buchanan of Sedro-Woolley and his sister, Myrtle Owens of Burlington. 6 grandchildren, Ryan, Rusty, Robert & Rashel Buchanan and Corey and Erica Culbertson. Also numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers and 1 sister.
Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at 1:00PM at the Hamilton Cemetery with Pastor Dale Price of Mount Vernon officiating. A fellowship will follow the graveside services at the Sedro-Woolley Eagles. Memorials are suggested to Muscular Dystrophy Association 701 Dexter Ave N. #106 Seattle, WA 98109.
