Ruby Mae Holt, 86, a resident of Sedro-Woolley passed away on Monday September 24, 2007 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bellingham.
She was born the daughter of Jetter and Belle Nicholson Hoyle on May 12, 1921 in Sylva, North Carolina.
At age 16, she came to Hamilton with her family and she was raised and attended schools in Hamilton and she graduated from Hamilton High School in 1938.
She was united in marriage to Earl ‘Skagit’ Holt on October 24, 1938 in Mount Vernon, WA and they made their home in Sedro-Woolley. Ruby worked as a postal carrier and also in the bulb fields.
In 1963, they moved to Alaska where she cooked in various logging camps and had a fur and jewelry business. In 1976, they moved back to Sedro-Woolley and have lived in the family home since then.
She was a member of the Eastern Star for many years, a member of TOPS, and enjoyed traveling in their trailer about the country.
Ruby is survived by her 2 sons; William Holt and his wife Theresa of Sedro-Woolley and Richard Holt and his companion Margaret Fleek of Lyman. 8 grandchildren; Todd Torgeson and his wife Paula, William Holt, Jr. and his wife Shannon, Tessa Holt, Michael Holt, Earl Holt, all of Sedro-Woolley, Patti Dorval of Sandpoint, ID, Rena Holt and Ruby Holt both of Forks. 10 great-grandchildren; Terrel, Taylor and Emma Torgeson, Sabrina, Hanna and William Holt all of Sedro-Woolley, Elizabeth, Gabrielle and Logan Dorval of Sandpoint, ID, Lexie Holt of Marysville, Zoe Holt and Michael Holt both of Forks.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Earl in 2004, a daughter Betty Torgeson in 1994 and a brother Will Hoyle.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday September 28, 2007 at 11:00 at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley with Pastor Rick Miles of the Day Creek Chapel officiating. Interment will follow at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery. A fellowship will follow the services at the Masonic Lodge in Sedro-Woolley. Memorials are suggested to your favorite charity.
