RUTH MAY WHITWORTH, age 69 of Burlington, passed away at her home Thursday, October 2nd. Mrs. Whitworth was born May 1, 1934 in Sylva, North Carolina to Oudis C. and Lillie C. Shepard Harris, and moved with her family too Sedro-Woolley when she was 11.
Ruth married James E. Whitworth, December 3, 1965 in Anacortes. She was a member of the Meat Cutter’s Union of Washington and loved bowling and was an avid golfer. She owned and operated Jim’s Auto Repair with her husband.
She was preceded in death by her son Robert Buchanan in April of 1995; two brothers, Henry and Will Harris and a sister Eve.
Survivor’s include: Husband, James E. Whitworth
Daughter, Carolyn Buchanan Counts of Black Diamond
2- Sons, Hank Buchanan and his wife Nancy of Sylva, North Carolina and Doug Buchanan of Birdsview.
6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 1 sister Margaret Harris of Sylva, North Carolina and a brother Daniel Harris of Sedro-Woolley. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, October 7th, at 12 noon, Van Zandt Cemetery in Deming, with Pastor Dave Browning officiating. Visitation will be at Lemley Chapel, Monday, October 6th, 5:00p.m. To 8:00p.m. Memorials may be made to Skagit Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 1376, Mount Vernon, WA 98273-1376.
