Shirley Ann Latting, age 62, passed away on Monday, January 11, 2010 at the United General Hospital in Sedro-Woolley, Washington.
She was born on March 28, 1947 in South Portland, Maine to Louis and Paulene Windslow Goan.
Shirley was married to Glen Latting on April 4, 1971 and has been a resident of Sedro-Woolley since 1972 coming here from Bellingham.
Shirley was a caregiver and visiting nurse to many people in Skagit County. She spent her life helping others and loved everyone. She enjoyed gardening and her animals and took in all strays. Shirley also loved children and was an aunt to many.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 38 years, Glen Latting of Sedro-Woolley. Two step-sons, Jackie Hoyt and his wife Barbara of Van Nuys, CA and Wally Hoyt and his wife Becky of Sedro-Woolley, and a step-daughter, Olivia Rue of Sandpoint, ID. Four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Tom Goan and his wife Sandy and Bill Goan all of Brentwood Bay, BC. Nephews, Joe and John Hammer of Seattle and Tony Hammer of Kettle Falls, WA. Brothers-in-law, Don Latting and his wife Dorothy of Sedro-Woolley, Bob Plemon and his wife Kathy of Bellingham and Vern Plemon of Texas and a sister-in-law, Helen Young of Bellingham. Also numerous other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-mother, Marion who she took care of for many years, a sister Helen Hammer and a brother Pete Goan.
Graveside Services will be held on Friday, January 15, 2010 at 2:00PM at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery with Pastor Mike Smith of Valley Baptist Church officiating. Visitation is available at Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley from 9:00AM to 5PM on Wednesday and Thursday and Friday untill 1:00PM. Memorials are suggested to North Puget Oncology at United General Hospital.
