Steven Ray VanDyke Ensley, 45, passed away suddenly of heart failure on Monday, May 16, 2005 at Mira Vista in Mount Vernon, WA.
He was the first baby born on January 1, 1960, in Burlington, WA, the son of John A. and Caroline Bozell Van Dyke, Jr.
Steven attended Sedro-Woolley schools, transferring to the Snoqualmie Valley Schools at the age of 12.
He loved playing music and was an accomplished guitarist. He began playing music in night clubs at the age of 13. After returning to the Skagit Valley, he played in a local band.
Steven had a sweet, peaceful spirit and a wonderful sense of humor. He will be missed by all of those who knew and loved him. The family would like to thank Francie for all the care she has given to Steven over the years. We would also like to thank the staff at Mira Vista.
He is survived by his loving mother, Caroline Ensley of Sedro-Woolley. 3 sisters, Bobbie Gustafson and her husband, Thom of Mount Vernon and Vicki Van Dyke and Annie Nersten and her husband, B.J., all of Sedro-Woolley. 1 step-brother, Garry Ensley and his wife, Cari of Lynnwood. 2 uncles and aunts, Bud and Mary Jo Bozell of Mount Vernon and Everett and Shari Bozell of Arlington. 2 half-brothers, John and Jay VanDyke, 2 half-sisters, Tracy McLean and Lisa King, all of North Carolina, also numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, John VanDyke, of Stanley, NC; brother, Ted VanDyke Ensley, of Delaware, OH. Grandparents, Ray & Elna Bozell, aunt and uncle, Barbara and Bob Mercer all from Sedro-Woolley.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Church of Latter-day Saints, Ward 1 in Sedro-Woolley.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2004 at 3:00 P.M. at Hawthorne Memorial Park in Mount Vernon. Bishop Melvin Call officiating. Services under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley, WA. Share memories of Steven by signing our online guestbook at www.lemleychapel.com
