Tecla Cugini McDaniel, 79, a longtime resident of Concrete, WA passed away Monday, May 17, 2004 in Lewiston, Idaho. She was born January 10, 1925 in Val Alta, Italy the daughter of Isia and Emilia Cugini. Tecla came to Concrete in 1935 from Italy where she attended school, graduating from Concrete High School in 1944. She was married to Wendell B. McDaniel on June 24, 1950 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Sedro-Woolley and they would have celebrated their 54th anniversary next month. Tecla worked as a bookkeeper at the Cement Plant and later for the Concrete School District at the grade school and high school. She also worked for Dr. Monzingo as his receptionist and bookkeeper until her retirement. She was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, and she and Wendell also were members of the Elks. Tecla enjoyed singing in the church choir and for many years helped operate the CCD Center at the church. She enjoyed plants, gardening, hiking, and in her youth she hunted, fished and skied. She is survived by her husband, Wendell B. McDaniel of the family home in Concrete.
Her children, Marc McDaniel and his wife Cheryl, and their children, Ryan and Kira of Seattle. Her daughter, Wendy McDaniel of Concrete. A sister, Frances Horne of Sedro-Woolley and brother, Siro Cugini and his wife Delia of Concrete. A nephew, Kim Cugini and his wife Robbi, a niece, Caprice Cardinal and her husband Paul, and their children, Sean and Cari, and a nephew Rick Loop and his wife Marilyn and their children Lindsey, Heather, and Amy.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, May 25, 2004 at 10:00AM at Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley with Father Dan Chiezey O.P. officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Park Cemetery in Concrete.
