Thomas J. Spencer, age 83, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2006 at the Life Care Center of Skagit Valley in Sedro-Woolley, WA.
He was born June 4, 1922 in Roston, Oklahoma, the son of Thomas and Fannie Hensley Spencer.
Tom has been a longtime resident of Sedro-Woolley, coming here from Oklahoma. He attended school in Sedro-Woolley and graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School in 1941. Tom served with the US Army during WWII in Germany. He was united in marriage to Eva Cochran on June 10, 1960 in Sedro-Woolley.
He worked as a logger for a few years and later began his carpenter career, working in residential, commercial construction, and heavy construction.
Tom was a 51 year member of Carpenter’s Union Local #1532. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of George Baldridge Post #43 American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Eva Spencer of Sedro-Woolley. His children, Tom Spencer and his wife, Phyllis of Longview, Lanny Cochran and his wife, Sheri, Joy Dean and her husband, Ron, and Gary Cochran all of Sedro-Woolley, Bill Spencer of Cedonia, WA, and Sue Roach and her husband, Chuck of Bellingham. 13 grandchildren, 26 great- grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, John and Harold and 3 sisters, Alta, Jewell, and Bertha, and a grandson Vincent Cochran.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2006 at 2:00 PM at Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley with Pastor Rick Miles of the Day Creek Chapel officiating. Interment will follow with military honors by George Baldridge Post #43 American Legion at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery.
