VERA ELAINE MIDDLESTETTER, 87, a resident of Mount Vernon, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2006 at Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon.
She was born on June 29, 1918 in Laverne, Oklahoma, one of thirteen children of David & Katherine Weizbrod Butler. She was raised and attended school in Oklahoma.
In 1936 she was united in marriage to Earl Middlestetter in Sharon, Oklahoma and they moved to and made their home in Sedro-Woolley since that time.
Vera worked as a scrub nurse and nurses assistant at Memorial Hospital in Sedro-Woolley for about 8 years; as a receptionist and optical assistant for Dr. Richard Mulholland for several years; as a receptionist for Dr.’s Gottwald and Amano and then a sales clerk for McClintock’s Drug Store and Oliver-Hammer Clothing Store for several years.
Vera was active in her neighborhood ‘Birthday Club’ and was a longtime member of St. James Episcopal Church in Sedro-Woolley.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Middlestetter of Mount Vernon; a special nephew, David Rohrer and his wife, Frankie of Sedro-Woolley; 7 grandchildren, Gina Watts companion, Garry Galde, Dina Kelley Shannon, Shelly Oslie Dave, Rusty Noble Dawn, Shara Mersereau, Christopher Stamey Alyssa and Jennifer Mayo Nick; 10 great-grandchildren, Kelsey & Kalie Kelley, Bailey, Jessica, Aurora & Seth Noble, Brannon Blacker, Keegan & Kyle Cole and Kelbi Stamey and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Earl in 1990, her daughter and son-in-law, Donna & Phil Noble, both in 2001, 6 brothers and 6 sisters.
At her request there will be no funeral services. Memorials are suggested to a charity of your choice in memory of Vera.
