Vera Pearl Rothenbuhler, 91, a resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away on Friday, October 30, 2009 at the Life Care Center of Skagit Valley in Sedro-Woolley.

She was born on June 23, 1918 in Seattle, Washington, the daughter of George & Ina Olmstead Noice. The family resided in Seattle until 1920 when they moved to and settled in the Fairhaven area of Bellingham and where Vera was raised and attended school.

On May 26, 1936 she was united in marriage to Robert Rothenbhler in Bellingham and they made their home in the Sedro-Woolley area until finally settling in Acme in 1945.

Vera was a devoted wife and mother, staying at home to care for her family and maintain her home. To assist in the family finances she would pick and sell ferns and cascara bark. She was also an accomplished artist and would sell some of her oil paintings. She was also a member of the Welcome Senior Center for many years.

In 2001 Vera returned to make her home in Sedro-Woolley.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bob in 1984; a grandson, Troy Shetler; two brothers, Orville & Gordon Noice; four sisters, Mary Hinds, Gertrude Rothenbuhler, Erma Pierson and Ilene Hendricks, and by her companion, John McKnight.

She is survived by her son, Ron Rothenbuhler and his wife, Kelly of Sedro-Woolley. Her daughter, Sally Shetler and her husband, Clyde of Acme and son, John Hughes of Moses Lake, WA. One sister, Alice Sessions of Ashland, OR and two brothers-in-law, Gordon Rothenbuhlerof Sedro-Woolley and Bruce Rothenbuhler of Acme. Four grandchildren, DeEtta DeZarn, DeAnne Howry, Tiffany Shetler and Tad Shetler. Also numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family suggest memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Graveside Services will be held on Friday, November 6, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the Saxon Cemetery. Visitation is available at and services under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
