VICTOR MADDOX, 88, a 54 year Clear Lake area resident, passed away at his home on Saturday October 16, 2004.
He was born in Mount Vernon, WA on October 17, 1915, the son of George S. & Lectione Hickox Maddox. The family moved to Oregon for a few years, finally returning to Skagit County in 1922 settling in Day Creek. Victor attended grade school in Day Creek and then Sedro-Woolley High School. A very talented accurate Timber Cruiser and appraiser trusted and admired by his constituents. Cruised timber stands from the giant California Redwoods through the huge Douglas Fir, Western Hemlock and Pines of Oregon
He worked as a timber cruiser for the Washington State Dept. of Natural Resources for 24 years and then for Bloedel Donovan, finally retiring at the age of 77.
Victor was first married to Lorene Hammond in 1949 and they made their home in Clear Lake. She preceded him in death in 1973. In 1974 he married Kathleen Givens and she preceded him in death in 2001.
Victor enjoyed hunting and fishing, was a member of the I.O.O.F. and a 50 year member of the Eagles.
He is survived by his step-children, Bob Sanders of Sedro-Woolley, Ralph Saiz of Clear Lake and Kathryn Norling of Anacortes and numerous nieces, nephews and step-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Andrew and Lee Maddox and a sister, Ina Sanderson.
