VIRGINIA CLARE GINGER RODGERS, 86, a longtime resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away on Saturday September 25, 2004 at Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon.
She was born on June 8, 1918 in Lambert, Montana, the daughter of Edward & Lyra McKim Holder. Virginia was raised and attended school in Northwestern Wyoming. She was united in marriage to James Rodgers in Nebraska in the late 1930’s and they made their home in Wyoming and Idaho until settling in Spokane, WA around 1945. It was there they raised their family and Virginia was active with her children and their activities, and served as President of their schools PTA for several years. She also enjoyed sewing, poetry and playing cards, dancing and studying foreign languages.
In 1979 Virginia & Jim moved to Sedro-Woolley and she became active in the Sedro-Woolley Senior Center and later an active member of the Cascade Christian Church. Jim preceded her in death in 1984.
She is survived by her two children and their spouses, Tim & Helen Rodgers of Bellevue, WA and Linda & Curtis Leggett of The Villages, Florida. She has 4 grandchildren, Nikki Hertzberg, Roger Leggett, Mimi Crowe and Kerry Rodgers, and two step-grandchildren, Rebecca Lewis and Jeff Leggett. She also has 8 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Jim Rodgers in 1991, as well as 1 brother and 2 sisters. The family suggests memorials be made to the Salvation Army or the Cascade Christian Church in Virginia’s memory.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday September 29, 2004 at 1:00 PM at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley. Pastor Tim Farnham of the Cascade Christian Church officiating. Visitation will be from 9 am to 5 pm on Tuesday Sep 28th and from 9 am thru services on Wednesday. Private inurnment will be at Green Hills Cemetery in Burlington. Arrangements under direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
