Virginia Mae Donnelly, age 83, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 2, 2009 at Birchview Memory Care in Sedro-Woolley where she had been a resident for the last few years.

She was born on February 20, 1925 in Red Cloud, Nebraska the daughter of Frank and Lorinne Hansen Barker.

In 1928, with her parents, siblings, and grandfather she came to Washington residing at Monohon near Lake Sammamish where they spent summer days at the lake. Later the family moved to Snoqualmie where her father worked at the Weyerhauser Mill. After graduating from North Bend High School, Virginia worked for a time at Boeing and later for Weyerhauser.

In 1947, she married Harold Donnelly of Fall City who worked for Puget Power at Snoqualmie Falls. They enjoyed life in North Bend, spending time with friends and family who stopped to visit their home on the South Fork of the Snoqualmie River. Virginia and Harold spent time fishing and taking camping trips to Hood Canal.

In 1959, Harold was transferred to Baker Lake with Puget Power and they settled into a new home in Concrete. Virginia worked at Alberts’ Serve-U and later in the office at the Concrete Clinic. After retirement, they spent time enjoying their home and picking mushrooms in the spring and berries in the summer and faithfully filling the bird feeders in the winter. She also grew beautiful flowers and kept a large vegetable garden. Virginia was known especially for her homemade blackberry pies. They often traveled to California to visit grandkids and family.

Virginia is survived by her two children, Michael Donnelly and his wife, Linda of Birdsview, WA and Sharon Donnelly Muth of Palmdale, CA. Five grandsons, Gilman Martiny Christine, Thomas Muth Natalie, Jeffrey Muth Tarsila, Gene Muth Heather, and Matt Muth Lea. 12 great-grandchldren, Grace & Kate Martiny, Adam & Allison Muth, Jessica, Jonathan, & Jeremiah Muth, Ryan, Sara, & Megan Muth, and Chelsea & Gabriel Muth. Her sisters, Joyce Levacy of Ellensburg, WA, Leora Barbeau of Yuma, AZ, Coral Allbee of Yucca Valley, CA and Carmel Barker of Fall City, WA. Also numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association, 12721 30th Ave NE #101, Seattle, WA 98125.

Private Inurnment Services will be at the Forest Park Cemetery in Concrete. Arrangements and services under the care of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
