Wayne Orville Stafford, 68, a Sedro-Woolley resident, passed way at the Life Care Center of Skagit Valley in Sedro-Woolley on Monday, April 5, 2004.
He was born on June 1, 1935 in Avery County, North Carolina the son of Orville and Pearl Burleson Stafford.
He came to Washington at the age of 17 to work in the logging industry until he had a bad logging accident in the early ’70’s. Wayne became a union construction laborer until his retirement. He was a country western and bluegrass music lover and Wayne also enjoyed being ‘the tatar town cowboy’.
He is survived by his former wife, Doris Stafford of Sedro-Woolley, 3 daughters, Debbie Cantu and her husband Dino and Peggy Nanfito and her husband Tim, all of Mount Vernon, and Teresa Newell and her husband Mike of Goldendale, WA. One son, Kenny Stafford of Sedro-Woolley. 6 grandchildren, Tiffany, Misty, Rachel, Tommy, April and Ryan. 7 great-grandchildren, Justin, Weston, Andrew, Dylan, Benjamin, Dakota and Tiana. One brother, Howard, and 2 sisters, Marie and Betty, all of North Carolina. The family extends a special thank you to his close friend Helen Allison.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Harlan, Bill, Don and 1 sister, Lucille. At his request there will be no funeral services.
