Wilah May Young

Wednesday, November 19th, 2003

WILAH MAY ‘WILLIE’ YOUNG, 71, a resident of Sedro-Woolley, went home to be with her Lord on Monday November 17, 2003 from Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon.
Willie was born on May 28, 1932 in Portland, Oregon, the daughter of Fred & Oma Basinger Oller. She came to Skagit County as a young girl, living on Whidbey Island and in Sedro-Woolley, making this area her home for over 60 years. For many years she worked in housekeeping, cleaning private homes and commercial offices. She also was an in-home care provider for many years.
Willie was a loving and giving person, who lived her life by the ‘pay it forward’ philosophy. NO was never an answer when she was asked to help.
She adored her family, especially the grandchildren, their get together barbeques and spending time at the ocean and at Whidbey Island.
She is survived by her four children; sons Tom Bowman of Sedro-Woolley, WA and David Cope and his wife Angie of Arlington, WA. Daughters, Dianne Gardner and her husband Tom of Sedro-Woolley and Yolonda Byrne and her husband Russell of Colorado Springs, CO. 5 grandchildren, Carl, Kimberly Kimmy, Amanda, Shaylene and Trent, and her great-granddaughter Heidi. 2 sisters, Marie Sitko of Burlington, WA and Alice Peck of Mount Vernon, WA. 1 brother, Glen Prothero of Ellensburg, WA and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard in 2001 and a brother, Jimmy Prothero.
The family suggests everyone do a pay it forward deed in memory of Willie.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday November 21, 2003 at 2:00 PM at the Bethel Assembly of God Church in Sedro-Woolley. Pastor Billy Farrar officiating. Private entombment will be at Evergreen-Washelli Cemetery in Seattle. Services under direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
