Willard A. ‘Bill’ Johnson, 77, a longtime resident of the Punkin Center community passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2009.
He was born on October 8, 1931 in Nevada City, California, the son of Ward & Mildred Patterson Johnson. He was raised and attended school in Grass Valley, California.
Bill worked at a variety of occupations while in California until beginning a long career in telecommunications with the telephone company. In 1974 he transferred to Washington, settling in Punkin Center and worked as a lineman and then a supervisor for the Contel then Verizon phone company.
He enjoyed fishing and working on his farm.
Bill is survived by his special friend, Evelyn Marriott of Bow. His children, Edie Kruger and her husband, John in Tennessee, Donna Woodruff and her companion Van Johnson of Punkin Center and Jeff Johnson and his companion Amy Pasillas of Sedro-Woolley. Three grandchildren, Michelle, Mykel and Jeff Johnson, Jr. and a great-grandson, David Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents.
At his request there will be no services. The family request that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Bill. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
