William E. ‘Ed’ Hyatt a longtime resident of Sedro-Woolley passed away Saturday, November 30, 2002 at the Life Care Center of Skagit Valley in Sedro-Woolley, WA at the age of 89 years. He was born July 16, 1913 in Franklin, North Carolina the son of J.P. and Lula Mae Hyatt. Ed was a resident of Sedro-Woolley since 1947 coming here from North Carolina. He worked in construction for many years working on the lower and upper Baker Dams, and the Navy Base at Whidbey Island. Ed was known for his quiet and hardworking manner and his obligation to put in a full days of work. Ed was a member of the Laborers Union and Valley Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening and having coffee everyday at 2pm at the Iron Skillet for many years. He was married to Madge Brown in 1967 in Couer D’ Alene, ID. Ed is survived by his wife Madge of Sedro-Woolley. Children Kenneth Hyatt of Mount Vernon, Dewey Hyatt of Sedro-Woolley, Frances Oxenham of Sedro-Woolley, Lucille Beimer of Mount Vernon, and Fay Stewart of Renton, WA. Stepchildren Eloda Mace of Houston, TX, Rayette Bassett of Richmond, TX, and Charles Deaver of Marquett, MI. Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters Gracie, Dorothy, and Pearl, and a son Ray Hyatt.
Funeral Services will be Friday, December 6, 2002 at 2:00 PM at Lemley Chapel with Pastor Dan Panter officiating. Interment to follow at the Bow Cemetery. A reception will follow the services at Valley Baptist Church in Sedro-Woolley. Memorials are suggested to Valley Baptist Church.
