WILBERT M. TOMPEL, 86, a resident of Sedro-Woolley, WA for the past 4 years, passed away at his residence at the Hillsview Apartment complex, on Wednesday September 10, 2003.
He was born on June 4, 1917 in Pittsburg, PA, the son of William & Elizabeth Burr Tompel. It was there that he was raised and attended school.
For several years Will worked in construction, then in 1942 he started working for the Pittsburgh & Lake Erie Rail Road. That was put on hold for 3 years in 1943 while he served in the U.S. Army during WW II. In 1946 he returned to Pittsburgh andworking for the rail road until his retirement in 1963 after 20 years of services. He was a longtime member of Holy Angels Catholic Church.
He is survived by 2 sisters, Elizabeth Kutchick of Sedro-Woolley, WA and Irmina Andracki of Pittsburgh, PA. 3 nieces, Sandra Dorenamann and husband Dave, Shirley Rager and husband James, and Donna Daugherty and husband Mark, all of Pittsburgh, and 2 nephews, Gary Kutchick and companion Sue Ferguson of Sedro-Woolley, WA, and Ron Kutchick and wife Gladys of Kodiak, AK. 1 Goddaughter, Rosemarie Kutchick. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, William & Norman Tompel. A brother-in-law, Joseph Kutchick and a nephew, ‘Sonny’ Kutchick. Services
were held at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Pittsburgh, PA on Tuesday September 16, 2003.
