WILLIAM RAYMOND ASHE, 82, a former resident of Lyman and Sedro-Woolley passed away at the Deaconess Medical Center in Spokane, WA on Friday July 2, 2004.
He was born on February 28, 1922 in Sylva, North Carolina, the son of William E. and Ida Estella Williams Ashe. He was raised and attended school in North Carolina until coming to Lyman in 1946.
He was united in marriage to Lois Eloise Long in 1944 in Baltimore, Maryland.
Ray worked at the Cement Plant in Concrete, at Skagit Steel in Sedro-Woolley and as a logger until retiring from the Puget Sound Energy Co.
Ray was an avid fisherman and was a guide on the Skagit River for many years. He had resided in Kettle Falls, WA for the past 14 years. He enjoyed his family, golfing, hunting and traveling. Ray will truly be missed by all.
He is survived his son, William R. Ashe Jr. and his wife Connie of Renton, WA; a brother, Ben Lee Ashe of Sedro-Woolley; 2 sisters, Julia Webb of Lyman and Bobbie Ashe of Hamilton. 4 grandchildren, Richard Rodgers, Michael Ashe and his wife Molly, Tracy Welch and her husband Todd and Shawna Seybold and her husband Greg. 8 great-grandsons, 2 great- granddaughters and numerous nieces and nephews. His loving companion, Mildred Daves and her children, Larry Daves Janet, Jean Claybo Kenneth, Nelda Daves and Chuck Daves Dorothy. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Eloise in 1980, 2 sisters, Ethel Ensley and Mabel Griffin and 2 brothers, Clarence and Clyde Ashe.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 9, 2004 at 11:00AM at Lemley Chapel with interment to follow at the Lyman Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or The Foundation for Deaconess and Valley Healthcare P. O. Box 518, Spokane, WA 99201.
