Winnifred Warden Prather, 86, passed away on Friday, April 23, 2004 at the Life Care Center of Skagit Valley in Sedro-Woolley.
She was born July 16, 1917 in Graham, Washington, the daughter of Matthew and Marie Young Dopp. Winnifred moved to Clear Lake from Bellingham in 1945 and worked at the Northern State Hospital as a nurse for many years. She moved to the Bremerton area in the early 1970’s. She worked at the Retsil Veteran’s Home in Port Orchard and the Frances Haddon Children’s Home in Bremerton until returning to Clear Lake in 1985. Winnifred enjoyed photography, knitting and traveling and was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. She was first married to Jess Turner, and after his death she later married Harvey Prather, who also preceded her in death.
She is survived by her 4 sons, Ken Turner, Don Turner and his wife Sally, and Robert Turner and his wife Becky, all of Clear Lake and John Turner of Shelton. 12 grandchildren, Jeff, Terry, David, Julie, Kenny, Mark, Teresa, Becky, Matthew, Staci, Dickie, and Monique, and numerous great- grandchildren. 2 sisters, Marilyn Jones of Ukiah, CA and Edna Powers of Winston, OR, and 7 nieces and nephews, Terrie, Randy, Tom, Jeanine, Linda, Christie and Eddie.
She was also preceded in death by 3 brothers, William, Matthew and Harley Dopp and 1 daughter-in-law, Louise Turner.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday May 1, 2004 at 3:00 PM at the North Cascades Seventh-day Adventist Church in Burlington with Pastor Gary Fogelquist officiating. The family suggests memorials to the SDA School in her memory.
