ZETTA MARIE WOOD, a former Clear Lake area resident, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning March 12, 2005 on Vashon Island at the age of 90 years.
She was born on October 7, 1914 in Rogers, Nebraska and raised and attended school in both Schuyler and Columbus. After graduation from high school she moved to Auburn, California where on January 10, 1931 she was united in marriage to Connie C. Wood. Zetta was an Army wife and during his military career, which spanned WW II, she and her children followed Connie whenever possible. They made their home in California, Nebraska, Panama, Japan and North Carolina before settling in Clear Lake in 1950.
From 1950 to 1975 Zetta was the organist at the Community Covenant Church in Clear Lake and also a Sunday school teacher for several generations of young people.
She loved gardening, hummingbirds, crocheting and playing the piano. She was also a keen follower of contemporary world events and numerous sports.
Zetta was preceded in death by her husband, Connie in 1998, her son, Albert in 1981 and a daughter-in-law, Beulah in 1999.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Geri and Jack Peterson of Vashon Island and her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. John R. and Cathy Wood of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. 7 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and 2 sisters, Harriet Rumbaugh and Henrietta Denman. The family requests memorials be made to the Clear Lake Community Covenant Church or to the Bethel Assembly of God Church, Sedro Woolley.
A Graveside Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2005 at 1:00 PM at the Clear Lake Cemetery. Pastor Tim Hedberg of the Clear Lake Community Covenant Church officiating.
