Alice White

Monday, December 27th, 2021

Alice Josephine White, age 88, passed away December 27, 2021, in Monroe, Washington.  She was born September 17, 1933, in Bellingham, to Bernard and Mary (Gallagher) Reynolds.

Alice grew up and graduated in Bellingham, WA.  She was eighth of nine children.  A lot of her love, values and compassion for others stemmed from her family.

She fell in love and married at the ripe old age of eighteen.  One of her brothers (Chuck) escorted her back East to meet our father, David, who was enlisted in the Navy at that time.  A beautiful Catholic ceremony the day after Christmas was performed in 1951 in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Alice was a wonderful mom.  She raised us a lot like she herself was raised.  Our home was blessed with all of the ingredients of a happy, healthy lifestyle.  Mom was widowed at an early age.  She never remarried, claiming Dave was the love of her life.

Her career as a grocery checker served her well.  She had that social charisma and smile that was owned only by her.

She lived a full life with a lot of travel on her agenda.  Lots of love went out to all of her friends and family.  Our mother was a positive, happy, fun-loving lady who will be greatly missed.

Alice is survived by her daughters, Jodi and Gary Redfield, Peggy and Doug Whitlock and Becky and Al Morales; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Maurice, Bernie, Charles, Frank, Jack and Joseph; sisters, Esther Booth and Mary Micklethwaite.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 to 4:00, Saturday, May 21, 2022, at Hillcrest Park Lodge, 1717 South 13th Street, Mount Vernon.  Alice was laid to rest beside her husband at Union Cemetery, Sedro-Woolley.  The family of Alice wish to extend our sincere thank you to the Monroe Hospital.  The staff gave her constant care, kindness and gentleness.  They have our upmost respect and admiration. Please share your memories of Alice and sign the online guest register.

Alice started being my landlord, then she was a customer of my Mom’s salon… but she fast became my dear friend. From the pregnancy of my first child until I moved away in 2004 I would stay in touch. She was beautiful, kind and her smile would light up the room. She made an impact on my life, by making me want to be a better person and spread sunshine like she did. Love to her children, she spoke of you often and loved you deeply. Blessings to you all.

    Aunt Juicy Lucy,
You will be forever missed. I remember summers at your house, singing with Pop-Pop, shopping in your closets! Spending time with you and your girls. Lots of love and laughter.

I have wonderful memories of Aunt Alice growing up. She always had a smile, and a warm hug when we went to visit her. She hugged with, not just her arms, but her whole being! I loved hanging out with her in the kitchen when she was preparing something yummy for a visit or a family gathering. I just like to be around her. She always made me feel welcome, loved, and important, even when I was a kid. I appreciate the wonderful, loving care she gave my Poppop. I know that she will be very missed here on earth, but that she was welcomed with open arms in heaven, by all of her brothers and sisters. Love to all of her family….

You had a wonderful mom and our family loved her so much. Her beautiful smile and how she just embraced you into her life. I know it hurts each of your hearts to have her gone. She waited a long time to be reunited with your dad and now they are happy together again. Let that bring a smile to you. Your tribute to her life was a beautiful story. Love to each of you.

To know her is to love her. Your Mom was wonderful to know and to have fun with in our years gone by. So glad we were fortunate to see her not long ago when Becky brought her to see Don and Mary Lee when we were also there. And as in her usual way, she asked all about us and our family with so much caring. So sorry for the sadness her girls and families are feeling. You wrote a wonderful and loving telling of her life. Love to you all, Joyce and AL

    Aunt Alice…
She lit up every room she entered, her smile was infectious, she always had a way to make you feel like you were the most important person in the world, she could always make the dreariest days seem bright and cheerful. That was my Aunt Alice…you will be sorely missed…
