Betty Lou Janicki, age 84, a longtime resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away at home, June 27, 2012. Betty was born April 25, 1928 to Arthur and Rebecca (Morcum) Johnson, in Jamestown, North Dakota.
Growing up in North Dakota, she became an elementary school teacher, then moved out west to work at Boeing. She rode her bicycle around the Boeing plant getting parts. She met Frank Janicki in the 60’s and they married in the 70’s. Betty worked with Frank at Bar Sand and Gravel, and enjoyed operating the tractor and equipment. She enjoyed adventuring around, fishing and the company of her dogs. She had a vegetable and flower garden of which the product was mostly given away. She was active in the Sedro-Woolley Lion’s Club.
Betty is survived by her sons, Michael and John Diamond.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Diamond and Frank Janicki.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Friday, July 6, 2012, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 719 Ferry St., Sedro-Woolley, with Father Martin Bourke officiating, followed by the Committal Service at Union Cemetery. A time of visitation will be available, Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 to 5:00 at Lemley Chapel.

My dear Aunt Betty – I am missing you so much. Back in North Dakota when I was born, my Mom named me after Aunt Betty and she has always been special to me. I miss coming up to Sedro-Woolley to see, the chances to talk on the phone and send you things in the mail and bring you flowers. Even though much time has passed, I still miss and think of you often. Missing you, but pray you are resting in peace with the Lord.

One of my favorite uncles; Frank Janicki, married Betty after falling in love with her many years ago. They had a good marriage and I remember fondly my Aunt Betty with her wonderful personality and friendship. My parents and I loved Betty very much and will surely miss her – Carl R. Scripture & Julia Theresa Scripture (Janicki) In our visits to their home on the Skagit River with my young brothers and sister we played in that house and around the property. There was always the business of the gravel company and the river front lots for sale. Also the infrequent floods that marooned their home which was raised up to prevent damage. I remeber Betty loved children very much. She will certainly be missed.
